In this Share & Learn session, Anthony Eleftherion, Director of Communications at Health Research for Action at UC Berkeley, discussed the importance of health literacy and the strategies employed in plain language communications. The session focused on information design, a subject often neglected in public health communications. Participants learned how to organize and present verbal and written health communications in order to encourage engagement from your audience and reduce barriers to understanding. We also spent some time answering some of the questions submitted for the Ask the Experts Share & Learn. Jennifer Frusetta, RDH, from the San Benito LOHP, and Travis Tramel, PhD, MS, RDHAP, owner of GeriSmiles Mobile Dental Hygiene Practice, answered submitted questions around collaborating with dental hygienists, especially between LOHPs and schools.
