A new study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) examined whether community water fluoridation is associated with adolescent IQ and cognitive function later in life using data from the Wisconsin Longitudinal Study. After accounting for socioeconomic and other potential confounding factors, researchers found no evidence that exposure to community water fluoridation was associated with lower cognitive performance during adolescence or adulthood.
