During this webinar we will go over integrating techniques into the clinical setting to identify and provide care for victims of human trafficking. Medical and Dental professionals are among the few in society that have contact with human trafficking victims while they are being trafficked, yet they are poorly prepared, lacking the skills and knowledge to first identify and second appropriately respond to the needs of these individuals. This has led to a situation reminiscent of the AIDS epidemic of the early 1980s where healthcare professionals often misunderstand the issue, fail to recognize its scope, or falsely believe it does not occur in their communities. Meanwhile, as providers we see these patients in our offices every day.

During this webinar we will discuss the prevalence of human trafficking in our communities and identify where it occurs;

  • explain the warning signs and symptoms to identify a human trafficking victim and how to responds appropriately in collaboration with law enforcement, community agencies, and other healthcare professionals; and
  • describe trauma informed care techniques to avoid retraumatization when providing care

CE’s are available for dental providers.
