This month's Office Hour brought LOHPs together to network in small groups.
Here are a few highlights from the main group discussion:
Access to care
- Napa LOHP has partnered with a mobile dental clinic (Queen of the Valley Mobile Dental Van) to conduct dental screenings and presentations at schools. The mobile dental van goes to rural areas once or twice a month.
- Several LOHPs have taken advantage of Smile, California’s Mobile Dental Van to reach their communities, particularly rural ones.
- Mendocino County will be partnering with their dental providers and Head Start programs to provide oral health education to Head Start teachers and families.
Fluoride work
- LOHPs discussed challenges with water fluoridation, while also making progress in raising awareness and providing education.
- Some LOHPs have worked closely with OOH to assist with their local fluoridation awareness, education, and communication efforts, even for areas where water is not fluoridated.

Grant deliverables
- Instructions, templates, and examples from OOH for upcoming deliverables can be found on the Moving California Oral Health Forward 2022-2027 page on COHTAC’s website under the Deliverable Resources section.
- CDE DataQuest was shared as a useful resource for the final Evaluation Report due July 31, 2027.
- LOHPs discussed the possibility of extending the School-Based/-Linked Evaluation Report deadline. OOH is reviewing and discussing this request.
- LOHPs that need additional time for a deliverable can request an extension from their OOH Program Consultant.
