This month's Office Hour brought LOHPs together for an open forum check in. 

A few highlights from the discussion: 

• CHW page on the COHTAC website  

  • The CHW page on the COHTAC website can be shared with your local partners, along with the trainings available for CHW certification. The Spanish version of the CHW page is now live, too.  

• Incorporating Oral Health Advisory Committees  

  • Siskiyou and Tulare LOHPs shared that they are incorporating their advisory committees’ input on CHIP updates through meetings they have initiated. Tulare LOHP put together slides with information and met several times with their advisory committee to get their input. Tulare LOHP suggests hosting a retreat to bring advisory committee members together as a way to better engage members and facilitate discussion.  

• Partnering with Head Start 

  • Sonoma, Plumas, and Contra Costa LOHPs shared they have strong partnerships with their local Head Start programs. Their Head Start programs are active participants in advisory committees and collaborate to host community events. One LOHP noted that Head Start partnerships can be a good source of success stories since they have a strong connection to families and an understanding of community barriers. 

• LOHP Communication Preferences  

  • LOHPs on the call find email communication to be the most valuable for receiving information from COHTAC. They also use email when communicating with LOHPs, and value networking opportunities with each other.
