In this Share & Learn session, Anthony Eleftherion, Director of Communications at Health Research for Action at UC Berkeley, will discuss the importance of health literacy and the strategies employed in plain language communications. The session will focus on information design, a subject often neglected in public health communications. You will learn how to organize and present verbal and written health communications in order to encourage engagement from your audience and reduce barriers to understanding. We will also spend some time answering some of the questions submitted for the Ask the Experts Share & Learn. Jennifer Frusetta, RDH, from the San Benito LOHP, and Travis Tramel, PhD, MS, RDHAP, owner of GeriSmiles Mobile Dental Hygiene Practice, will answer submitted questions around collaborating with dental hygienists, especially between LOHPs and schools.

Participants will improve their abilities to:

  1. Understand the importance of health literacy and information design
  2. Use information design to communicate health information clearly
  3. Apply evidence-based health literacy techniques for social media
